Why did I start blogging?!
I started direct sales a little over two years ago. When I first started, I never thought of blogging. I wasn’t educated about blogging so it wasn’t even something that was on my radar. I always pictured blogging as some sort of online diary that no one ever read (it’s totally not like that at all). Shortly after my direct sales business took off I joined The Socialite Suite on Facebook. It is a HUGE resource for anyone running a direct sales or small business. Blogging was discussed in there but I didn’t pay much attention, my focus was on Facebook engagement. Fast forward two years later after a direct sales company switch and a million Facebook algorithm changes, and here we are. If you are in direct sales, please, please, PLEASE, do not put all of your eggs in one basket. In other words, DO NOT run your online business primarily through Facebook only. Don’t get me wrong, Facebook is an excellent tool and can be a huge help. Plus, if you build your online Facebook community the right way WITHOUT being spammy, you shouldn’t have any major algorithm issues. However, one of the hardest things to accomplish is bringing in new customers or community members.
A little over one month ago, I attended a direct sales conference called SassyCon. You guys, it’s hard for me to even put into words how amazing the conference was. In fact, once I do figure out the words, I think SassyCon deserves it’s very own blog post. While I was sitting in the conference with a ton of other amazing women with light bulbs going off above our heads left and right, I started to understand what I needed to do. I needed to BLOG. Luckily, Sassy Suite offers an amazing blogging boot camp which I’m currently in the thick of! I needed to be able to post all of my thoughts, ideas, products, etc., in a place where people could FIND me. Looking for a toddler mom who loves Target, Amazon Prime, purple, and California beaches – who just happens to run an awesome boutique with amazing clothing, accessories and more?! Hey! We belong together. I needed a place to find my tribe (or for them to find me), to tell you all about toddler mom life, small business life, and to keep my current community in the loop as well. Blogging is already so much more than I ever thought it would be and we’re just getting started!
